Consulting

Embedded systems architecture is the structure that defines how embedded hardware and firmware interrelate to perform a specific task.  Unlike architectures within other types of computer systems, embedded system architectures are often limited by the size, weight, power, and cost of the end application. These more stringent design requirements create additional challenges for engineers during product development.

We are coming from both academic and industrial worlds. Our extensive knowledge of industry best practices for embedded system design and our experience with product design, technical consulting, and engineering reviews for safety-critical applications have helped teams develop more robust IoT as well as non-connected electronic devices.

We work with a wide range of tools and components such as Xilinx and Altera FPGAs, ARM-based microcontrollers, and chips from makers such as Microchip, Atmel, Texas Instruments, Intel, ST Micro, NXP, Freescale, and Renesas.  All hardware and software related process, architecture, tool, and component recommendations are vendor agnostic and based solely on achieving the best technical performance for our clients.

Applications supported by VOLK include, but are not limited to the:

  • automotive electronics,

  • medical devices,

  • consumer electronics,

  • industrial automation,

  • mobile / wearable / wireless, and

  • telecommunications devices.
